This lsitening worksheet is thought to be done by students of 2nd year of Bachillerato, so the level this exercise is aimed at is A2. The language contents we are dealing with are: past tenses (past simple, past continuous...), discourse makers and time expressions (when, the rest of the week, at the end of each day...), prepositions (inside, on, at), phrasal verbs (look for, put into, carry out, bring out..) and vocabulary related to shopping and sales (thrift shop, to browse, customer, sales, price, to work, bargains...). As it can be seen through these exercises, there are not only listening exercises but also other activities aimed at putting into practice the other language skills (speaking and writing). The first sheet contains the first activity, based on a pre-reading exercise to make students remember vocabulary related to shopping and also to make them learn new words and prepare them to the main activity. The main activity is the reading of the story (with the audio file). Once they have read the text, and listened to the audio, they will scan the text in order to extract from it the main ideas and also the most important words. Then, they will do the "fill-in-the-gap" exercise, in which they are supposed to remember specific information from the story. Finally, once they have put into practice writing, listening and reading skills, we will do a little bit of speaking with them. The last activity contained in this sheet consists of selecting a few questions and ask them to some of their partners. In this way, they will be putting into practice new words acquired in the lesson and they will also use previous knowledge related to shopping. So, the purpose of this exercises is that students learn new vocabulary while remembering previous words ("intrinsic knowledge") through a very current topic, and at the same time, that they put into practice all the skills regarding second language learning (reading, listening, writing and speaking).
